Hotel Review : Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort and Spa, Thailand

April 2018, Location : Koh Yao Yai, Thailand

I stayed at Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort and Spa for five days and four nights. It’s in Koh Yao Yai, PhangNga, Thailand.

Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort and Spa is a Thai traditional luxury resort, part of Santhiya group. The resort is located in Koh Yao Yai, PhangNga. You can just fly to Phuket, then use the resort transfer service, they will take you to Ao Por Grand Marina pier by shuttle van ( you can take a private van or an airport taxi ) then it takes 20 minutes using the hotels speed boat to get to the resort.

After I arrived at the Ao Por Grand Marina Pier the staff took me to the resort lounge to waiting for the speed boat. At the lounge they have tea, coffee, cold water and snacks for all guests.

After 20 minutes on a speed boat we arrived to the resort pier. The first impression is how the resort looks. It was amazing. You can see villas on the hill and the pier is very beautiful.

We checked in at the lobby. The lobby here is a little bit busy because many guests check in in the same time. After a bit of a long journey and some hot weather the resort welcomed me with a cold welcome drink and a cold towel. The resort is located on the hill so we had to go everywhere with the buggy car.

Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort and Spa has so many restaurants so I can’t even remember them all, I only tried 3 restaurants, The Titan Grill, By the sea restaurant and bar and Saaitara restaurant. Food here was good but can be better. The prices are a little bit expensive and the promotions for happy hour drinks were not interesting. Breakfast here was a bit boring. I think for a luxury resort they should have more choices for breakfast. I stayed at a Marriott resort over the Christmas holidays and it can’t even compare. Also I had to wait for my food one hour, in my option that was too long for two dishes of Thai food.

The resort has two pools one is next to the beach, it has a water wall and sunbed which look like a boat. I think it’s an unique style for Santhiya Resort Group place as you can also see sunbeds like this at Santhiya Koh Pangan too.  Another pool is an infinity pool on the hill next to the restaurant. The view from the infinity pool was so incredible , you can see a little island and watch the sunset here.

The beach here is so nice, soft and has white sands and clear water, the resort has many sunbeds for guests and it was enough for everyone staying. Kayaks and paddle boards are available for guests and it was free.

I stayed in the deluxe room with garden view but actually the room has a partial sea view. the room is decorated in a Thai traditional style, everything was built from wood. The room came with welcome fruits. The room is so big, more than 60 Sqm. The bed is a king size bed and very comfortable. It has a mosquito net, Santhiya Koh Yao Yai has a turn down service in the evening ,this is good because you don’t have to worry about the mosquitos which can be a problem when you stay in an natural resort.

The room has a separate shower room and toilet and outside there was a big bathtub on the balcony, with the warm light at night the balcony gives you a romantic feeling

Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort and Spa is a luxury resort for couple and family, for me it is a very nice resort. The property is incredible, the service was good, all the staff were nice, the room was perfect and they have so many activities for guests.

My negative was the food here, it was a little bit expensive, in my opinion it should be cheaper than it is and the happy hour promotions should be more interesting. The resort has so many interns so sometimes they weren’t working hard enough.
